Unsurmountable is the 3rd game in Button Shy's Simply Solo series by Scott Almes.
Because it’s there! Seems a good enough reason to climb the mountain, but are you ready for the challenge? In this game, you must puzzle your way up a mountain in order to get to the highest peak! Plan your route, choose your actions wisely, and use the limited resources you have to get to the top of the mountain!
In this game, you will have a row of cards that you play from. The order of your cards is important. The left side of your row is the front, where you play cards into the mountain. When you draw new cards, you add them to the right side. You may not reorder them!
Your goal is to complete a mountain climb, which you do by forming a climbing route to the peak. If you run out of cards before you reach the highest peak with a climbing route, then you lose!
You start your turn with a row of cards, and they will perform one of two actions:
Add the front card to the mountain.
Discard a non-front card and apply its effect.
After you take one of these actions, refill your row to the full amount of cards.
In order to form a climbing route up the mountain, you must add cards to the mountain! The final mountain must have 4 cards in the bottom row, then 3 cards in the row on top of that, then 2 cards, then the final 1 card peak!
Instead of adding the front card to the mountain, you may discard one of the cards in your row to apply its effect.
If you have a card at the peak and have a completed route from the bottom of the mountain to the peak, then you have won the game!
If you ran out of cards before you reached the peak, then you have lost the game!
