In Trickjack, players compete for the king's favor by gathering influence from four powerful houses. However, gaining too much power can be dangerous — anyone whose total influence exceeds 21 may be executed.

The game combines traditional trick-taking with the risk-management system of Blackjack. Players play cards into a series of tricks, and the tricks they win are organized according to their suits, representing influence gained from each of the four houses.

As players accumulate influence, they must carefully manage their total power. If their combined influence exceeds 21, they bust and are eliminated from contention for that round. Once all cards have been played, the player whose total influence is closest to 21 without exceeding it wins the round and receives a King’s Token.

The first player to collect three King’s Tokens earns the king’s trust and wins the game.
