Quest for Canaan spans 3 eras: Conquest, Judges, and Kings. Players try to establish farming communities and build homes and city walls while at war with the surrounding Canaanites. You are assisted by Biblical people with different attributes and challenges to complete for points. These Biblical figures are distributed from the Legacy deck at the beginning of the game.

Throughout the game, players select cards from 6 different decks: 2 Agriculture decks, 2 Caravan decks, 1 Build deck, and 1 Military deck.

Agriculture cards earn money needed to survive.
Caravan cards are vital resources that give advantages to game play.
Build cards are needed to build homes and city walls, which earn Legacy points.
Military cards make you strong in battle and, if you prevail, earn Legacy points.

When the last Conflict of Era 3 is over, the game ends, and the player that has built the best Legacy (most Legacy points) wins. Legacy points are gained by building homes and city walls that surround homes, by contributing Military units to fight and win wars, and by completing Legacy card challenges.
