Magnate: The Anarcho-Capitalist Card Game

Magnate is a 3-6 player card game in which the players take on the roles of the 0.01%. Their goal is to collapse the 'elected' government (past the point where money-printing will save it) and to take control of the anarcho-capitalist 'utopia' that unfolds following the governmental collapse.

This is a game of two halves.

During the first phase of the game the players must hoard as many commodities and pay as little tax as possible. Players play minions which they use to tactically attack other the players and the government. The government functions as a non-player entity. The goal of the first phase of the game is to strategically build up your position while cooperating with the other players to take down the government. Beware! The government can, and does, win if players focus too much on building their own positions.

In the second phase, triggered after the government is bankrupted, a new deck of player cards are unlocked. Hasn’t everyone wanted their own private air force from time to time?

Within an anarcho-capitalist tundra, players fight over an increasingly scarce resource base. The game continues until only one Magnate worthy of the name is left (in possession of commodities) and wins.
