Frozen Realms is a 4X deckbuilding tabletop game set in a fantasy world. Players choose a race and faction, build their decks, recruit units, and expand across a modular campaign map. The game combines strategic map control with turn-based battles resolved on a separate battle map.

Each turn, players receive resources from their provinces and structures, recruit units, research technology cards, move their armies, attack and conquer provinces, and engage in battles. They can also construct buildings within their territories and acquire new cards from the market, shaping their strategic and tactical options.

During the game, players manage their provinces, develop infrastructure, and recruit armies while navigating logistics and positioning on the campaign map. Deckbuilding determines available actions, including spells, tactics, and upgrades, while technologies unlock additional strategic options as the game progresses.

Combat takes place on a dedicated battle map, where players command their units in turn-based encounters. Card effects, unit abilities, and positioning all influence the outcome of battles. The game integrates multiple layers of decision-making, including resource management, army composition, and tactical execution.

The objective of the game is to eliminate all other players by removing their control over provinces. A player is eliminated when they no longer control any provinces. In cooperative or solo modes, players face an automated Chaos opponent, and victory is achieved by capturing the Heart of the Chaos.
