Ahayuta is a pure, two-player abstract strategy game of deep positional play and sudden, decisive power shifts.
Played on a unique 8x8 board with its corners removed, you command six pieces (warriors). Your goal is to either capture your opponent's powerful "Ahayuta" piece or to move your own Ahayuta across the board to the opponent's home row.
The game's heart is its unique "Clamp" capture mechanism: you capture by surrounding an opponent's piece between two of your own in a straight line, not by jumping.
The twist: the mighty Ahayuta piece is not on the board at first. It is born either by sacrificing your first captured warrior or by heroically moving one of your warriors to the opponent's back row. Once present, this piece changes the entire flow of the game, moving omnidirectionally and becoming the focal point of both victory and danger.

1. Components
Board: 8x8 grid, 4 corners removed. 60 playable squares.
Pieces per player: 6 Warriors (light/dark), 1 Ahayuta piece (not used at first).

2. Setup

Each player's Home Row is the closest 6-square row.
All 12 warriors start off-board in reserve.

Ahayuta pieces are aside.
Player with light pieces starts.

3. On Your Turn (Choose One)
Deploy: Place 1 warrior from your reserve onto any empty square in your Home Row.
Move: Move 1 of your warriors or your Ahayuta (if in play) according to movement rules.

4. Movement
Warrior: 1 square diagonally forward only.

Ahayuta: 1 square in any direction (horiz./vert./diag.) forward only.
All moves are to empty squares. No jumping.

5. Creating Your Ahayuta (Each player may have only one)
Path of the Hero: When your warrior reaches the opponent's Home Row, it transforms into your Ahayuta and is immediately placed on any empty square in your Home Row (as part of the same move).
Path of Sacrifice: The first warrior you lose to capture becomes your Ahayuta. On your next turn, you must place it in your Home Row (this is your only move that turn).

6. Capture (The "Clamp")
Capture only by sandwiching an opponent's piece between two of your pieces along a straight line (horiz./vert./diag.).
Capture happens immediately when the sandwich is created by your move.
Placing a newborn Ahayuta can trigger additional captures.
Multiple pieces in one line can be captured at once.
Moving between two enemy pieces is safe.

7. Winning (Immediate Victory)
Move your Ahayuta onto any square of the opponent's Home Row.
Capture the opponent's Ahayuta.
Leave the opponent with no legal move (all pieces blocked, reserve empty).

8. Draw
Mutual agreement.

Threefold repetition of the same position with the same player to move.
