WORDMINGLE is a word puzzle game, which presents you with 10 letters of two words jumbled together, and the object is to determine what the two original words are. Its contents are:

• 100 Scrabble-like letter tiles
• 22 tile holders: 10 beige, 6 white, 6 black
• 1 wooden box, with the URL of the site (wordmingle.app) which has the game's instructions, and the generator of the puzzles.

The app's front page lets you choose DAILY for the daily puzzle, RANDOM for a random puzzle, and GUIDE for the rules. To play, you bring up a daily or random puzzle, and it shows you 10 letters. After putting their tiles into the 10 beige holders, tap on I'M READY, and the solving screen has spaces to say the length of the two words (one black and one white, either 5 and 5, 4 and 6, or 6 and 4), to enter word guesses, and to request a hint. Then you shuffle the letter tiles around until you have one or two words, which you can enter, and the app tells you whether the guess is correct. To get a hint, you click on a letter and it shows whether it's in the white or the black word, so you can transfer its tile to the holder of its color. You get 1 point for each hint and each incorrect guess, and the object is to have the lowest score when both words have been guessed.

WORDMINGLE is mainly a solitaire game, but it can be played cooperatively by a group, as well as competitively between people with their own tile sets. You can share the URL for random puzzles so people can compare their efforts to solve the same puzzle.

WORDMINGLE is deliberately designed to use the physical act of moving tiles around, based on research that shows that activity that uses both the mind and the body helps preserve mental acuity more than those that just use the mind alone.
