WayWord Connections

Blends Waypoint Mapping with Words!

WayWord Connections is a cooperative word game that combines spelling with strategic path building. Players work together to connect words of their choice with waypoints.

Cover the waypoints with matching letters, then connect them together by forming words, all before time runs out.

Game Components:

12 magnetic map sections
Magnetic underlays to connect the sections

136 letter tiles including 17 bigram tiles.

Not included: a timer. Use your cell phone to set a time limit.

Goal:
Cover all the waypoints and connect them with words such that no way point is isolated. Do this before time runs out!

Setup:

Grab two to six map sections.
Form a map by arranging the sections in any order.
Place all the tiles upside down between the players.
Each player takes five tiles placing them face up.
Set your timer to 10 minutes per section divided by the number of players, so if you have six sections and four players, set the timer to 10 x 4 / 6 = 6.6 minutes.

Simultaneous Game Play:
You are all playing against the clock, at the same time.

All players place tiles in one of two ways:
On top of a waypoint with its matching letter.
Form a complete word attached to an existing letter.

Join two words across a common letter (crossword).
Replace the tiles in your hand to a maximum of five tiles.
Play until all waypoints are covered and all words are interconnected.

Notes:
You cannot place a letter over water.
You may place a word anywhere but to complete the game, the word cannot be orphaned (unconnected).
With several players, the orientation of words does not matter. However, if you would like consistency, play all letters and words in the same left to right, top to bottom directions.
If a player cannot make a word, wait until another player has made a word. However, if all players cannot make a word, replace all your tiles. This situation is more likely only to occur when playing solo.
A letter must fit within a grid square.

Ending the Game:
With all the waypoints covered and all words connected, continue to play out remaining letters from all hands. If a player cannot make a word, draw another letter.
You cannot win if any letters remain.
