Wave Chase Race (ウェーブチェイスレース) is a race prediction game from Japan. The players are trying to get their predicted sailing team to win the regatta but not the races. The gameplay has various twists. The team that actually wins the race does not score. Instead, the team in 2nd place determines the points distribution.

As teams move along the course, they can get a boost by passing through boats ahead of them. With several boats, this can create large moves. But if a leading group catches up with a lagging group, instead of being lapped, the lagging group simply joins the leaders. So falling behind is not necessarily bad if you can get the leader to catch you up.

The game is played over two races, and the final winner is determined from several factors: the rankings from each race, your predictions during the races, the cards remaining in your hand, points from your colours. The final total gives the eventual winner.

カードプレイによるレースゲームですが、「次の空きマスまでヨットは進む」「先頭集団の先頭のヨットが先頭になる（周回遅れのヨット群に追いつくとそこが先頭に吸収される）」

「全員がカードを使い切るまでレースは続く」といった特徴があります。
また、「各チーム2番目のヨットで順位が決まる」「各チーム1番目のヨットはレースから抜ける」ことでレースは少し混沌となります。

前後半2回のラウンドを通じてより多くの点数を獲得すると思うチームに投票し、最終的に投票に使用したチケットの点数が最も多い人が勝者となります。
