One thing that certain modern board games have a knack at is redirecting eye focus from the table to each other. Ca$h 'N Gun$, by Ludovic Maublanc, is one such game. Set in what seems like a Quentin Tarantino film, Ca$h 'N Gun$ sees rival players pointing foam pistols at each other in a Mexican stand-off. It is not so much a game about the pieces (although the pistols are a nice touch) but it is about the players, and being able to read them. In a vein, it shares similarities with Rock Paper Scissors, which is also a simultaneous guessing game, albeit with more nuanced bluffing and goals. Virus also attempts to lift the gamers' heads, in order to pass some (proverbial) germs around.

This game is part of Femtitva, a collection of 10 games by Scott Huntington that were inspired by popular modern games but can be played with a traditional deck of cards.

Virus uses a Joker plus a number of other cards depending on the players, with suits/values being ignored: 2 players: 8 red, 9 black; 3 players: 12 red, 11 black; 4 players: 12 red, 15 black. Each player starts with an equal number of red cards (Medicine), while the Joker (Virus) is shuffled with the black cards (Germs), from which players are dealt an equal hand. On the count of three players simultaneously make a symbol corresponding to one of the following actions: Drink medicine (clenched fist), Infect player (point one finger at that person), Steal from player (point two fingers at that person), Block player from targeting you (point hand at that person). Drinking medicine makes you turn a red card face down, Infected players draw a card from the person that targeted them, Stealing medicine lets you steal a face-up red card from the targeted person; Blocking protects you against people pointing at you. In a 3-4 player game, at the end of a round (all medicine besides two are drunk) players score for medicine (+4) and germs (-1), or get just 1 point if they have the Virus; the player with most points after three rounds is the winner. In a 2 player game, you win a round if you're first to drink four potions and don't have the virus; the first player to win two rounds is the winner.
