Introduction:
Vinver (from Old English: Twigrap in andweard, meaning "diagonal duel") is a drawless game for two players: White and Black. It is played on the intersections (points) of an initially empty square board. The recommended board size is 19 points per side, but smaller boards can be used for shorter games. The top and bottom edges of the board are colored black; the left and right edges are colored white. Each player has access to a sufficient supply of stones of their own color.

Definitions:
– A chain is a set of orthogonally connected stones of the same color.

– To flip is to replace a stone with a stone of the opposite color.
– A stone that is placed diagonally adjacent to a friendly stone, and both, the newly placed and the friendly one, are orthogonally adjacent to two enemy stones that are diagonally adjacent, allows the player to flip one of those enemy stones. If there are other enemy stones in the same arrangement, they can proceed to flip one of them in the same way, repeating this process until there are no more enemy stones in such a configuration.

Turns:
Black plays first and then alternates. On your turn, perform one of the following actions:

– Place a stone of your color on an empty point, then flip enemy stones.
– Pass your turn.

End of the Game:
The game ends when a player has connected the opposite edges of their color with a complete chain of their color, in which case they are the winner.

For the game to be fair, before the game begins, the first player places a black stone on an empty point and the second player chooses the sides. This balancing method is called the pie rule.
