Urgent Commands: The Battle of the Bulge drops players into this deadly, bitter terrain where the fog of war is thick and the friction of combat costs precious time.

Unlike traditional wargames where players ponder every move like an unhurried game of chess, Urgent Commands features truly simultaneous, real-time play. Driven by a strict 2-minute sand timer per turn, players roll custom Action Dice to issue movement orders, maneuver forces across narrow road networks, and initiate battles before time runs out. Success requires managing vital supply lines, expending limited fuel markers for armored spearheads, and coordinating artillery barrages, commando disruptions, and air support. For players who prefer a traditional turn-based match, the included Impulse System provides an unhurried alternative that also doubles as a two-handed solo mode.

Victory demands aggressive action or unwavering defense depending on your side. The German player wins immediately via sudden death by capturing and holding Liège with no Allied defenders remaining. Otherwise, the German player wins at game's end by securing two Victory Points—earned by exiting armored columns off the northwest map edge, holding in-supply forces west of the Meuse River, or resolving specific Event Cards. The Allied player claims victory by blunting the armored advance, severing German supply lines, and denying Axis forces their objective threshold before time runs out.
