In 485 BC, Gelon established himself as tyrant of Syracuse, ushering in an era of extraordinary prosperity, epic clashes, and political intrigue. For 86 years, Sicily became the stage for a titanic power struggle involving the Greek poleis, the mercantile empire of Carthage, the native Sikeloi populations, and the imperial ambitions of Athens.

In Tyrannos, the player assumes the role of the Tyrant of Syracuse.
The goal? To achieve total control over the island by subduing Carthaginian allies, forging strategic alliances, and subjugating rival cities by the end of the 43rd game turn.

What the wargame offers:

Rigorously Authentic Historical Framework: Through the Historia appendix, every two-year turn is driven by real historical events that directly influence the economy, demographics, wealth, and prestige of the cities on the map.
Dynamic State Management: Skillfully balance resource management (Ploutos), trade and naval development (Oikonomia), demographic growth (Demos), and military and diplomatic renown (Time).
Diplomacy and Subjugation: The Tyrant signs treaties of alliance, imposes protectorates, or reduces enemy poleis to submission in order to collect tribute and expand his sphere of influence.
Pedion Maches Tactical System: When diplomacy fails, arms take center stage. The Tyrant deploys Hoplites, Psiloi, and Cavalry onto a two-line tactical board, manages unit cohesion, executes flank charges, and plays Strategikon tactical cards to turn the tide of pitch battles, naval encounters, and dramatic sieges.
Period-Inspired Visuals & Aesthetic: The visual component of TYRANNOS has been meticulously crafted to immerse players in the atmosphere of Greek and Punic Sicily. The map, tactical boards, and components feature a color palette, illustration style, and iconographic references drawn directly from ancient pottery, classical numismatics, and period historical cartography, blending historical accuracy with maximum tabletop clarity.
Solo or Versus: The Tyrant faces the Carthaginian Antagonist and its allies—controlled by a robust and unpredictable automated system (BOT)—or challenges a second player in a head-to-head battle for Mediterranean dominance.
