All square cards with the elements of the New Year's puzzle are placed face down on the table, thoroughly mixed and laid out in even rows of eight cards in each row tightly together so that a large square of the hidden picture is formed. All rectangular cards are thoroughly mixed and laid out back side up on the table in a stack.
Each player in one turn has the right to turn over any one unopened square card from the hidden drawing laid out in rows and looks for exactly where that card should be.

If a card revealed by a player should be on a spot that does NOT share a border with any already revealed card on the table, that move is considered unsuccessful. The player returns the card back to its place face up. All players try to memorize its location. The turn passes to the next player.

Attention! Only the cards that are touching by the sides are considered to be cards that have a common border. Touching cards with corners is not considered to have a common border!
If a card opened by a player should be on a place having a common border with some already opened card on the table, such a move is considered successful. The player puts it on this necessary place on the principle of a puzzle according to the pattern instead of the unopened card on this place, which in its turn without opening moves to the empty place where the card opened by the player was earlier. For each successful move the player gets three privileges:
a) to take from the stack one top prize card with accrued points;
b) the opportunity to increase the points accrued (if it is provided in the text of the prize card received);
c) make another move (if it is not prohibited in the text of the received prize card).

Use of Prize Cards:
A prize card contains a number of points gained or lost by a player during a turn.
A prize card may contain a prohibition on taking another turn, even if the turn was successful.
A prize card may contain additional conditions that a player must read and, if possible, fulfill in order to increase the number of points he has gained or decrease the number of points of other players.
The game ends when the hidden picture puzzle is completely assembled on the table. The winner is the one who has collected the most points in their prize cards including extra points for fulfilling the condition that are indicated on them.
