There are four starting places on the board. Each player takes 4 figures of the same color and places them in the starting position of the same color. The players take turns to roll and move. When moving, one skips over all other figures and only counts the empty spaces. The winner is the player who brings his 4 vagabonds to the finish line first.
One can only start after rolling a 1 or 6. Whoever rolls 1 places a figure on space 1 of their driveway. Whoever rolls 6 moves forward 6 spaces and comes to their own intersection and can roll the die again. On the roll of a "one, he may immediately jump to the finish. On any other roll he has to enter the round course around the board.
If a figure lands on a space with a figure of the same color, it sits next to it, rolls again. But if a figure hits a figure of a different color, it is pushed off the path. The pushed figure must go into the starting place at the next intersection behind, even if it is a foreign starting place.
After completing the circuit, the figure has to stop at its stopping point. Only the next time a 1 is rolled it is allowed to jump from the stopping point to the finish. As long as a figure stands at its stopping point, subsequent figures of its color may jump over it's back to the finish with every throw that extends beyond the stopping point. If a figure of another color is sitting at the stopping point, a figure of the color of the stop point is blocked and may not jump over it to the finish.
