The objective of both sides is to shoot the ball into the opponent's goal. Players take turns moving. A move consists of either a move alone, or a move and a shot. All pieces can move up to 3 squares.

The two defenders and the two inside forwards (identified by their red base) can only move in a straight line. The remaining pieces can only move along the corners of the squares, but also in a zigzag pattern. The goalkeeper can move anywhere, but may not leave the penalty area.

Only one piece or the ball may occupy each square. A piece cannot move onto a square already occupied by another. The ball must be moved if a piece is moved onto the ball's square, specifically: the goalkeeper (identified by their jersey) can move up to 12 squares, and the outside forwards can move up to 12 squares. (Recognizable by their yellow base) Up to 9 squares away when they are on rows A, B, O, and P; up to 6 squares away on the remaining squares; and up to 6 squares away from the other pieces. A single piece can only move the ball across the corners or along the wide sides of the squares.

A goal is scored when the ball is moved onto one of the 5 goal squares. The pieces are then returned to their starting positions, and the piece that allowed the goal to be scored goes first.

If the ball is moved across squares already occupied by pieces, each occupied square counts double. The ball cannot be played across a square occupied by the goalkeeper.

A combination is the passing of the ball between 2 and at most 3 pieces of the same team and counts as one move. A header can only be played within a combination and only by the 2nd or 3rd piece in the combination move.

According to the rules of football, a player is offside only if they are in the opponent's half of the field, between the ball and the goal, have only one opponent in front of them, and can score a goal themselves or are involved in a combination that leads to a goal. The offside player loses possession of the ball to the opposing goalkeeper, regardless of their position.

The game duration is agreed upon (until the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc. goal or for 1.5 hours).
