The ramshackle descendants of a once-great civilization seek to prove themselves worthy of their ancestry. By uncovering the lost knowledge of this world's spirit-powered technology, they hope to follow their forebearers deeper into the depths.
Standing in their way: the darkness. Exposure is forbidden, and those touched by it are cast out forever. Preserving them is the safety of the Slab - a massive stone construct imbued with spirit fire - the last refuge of light against the corrupting dark. Equipped with spirit lanterns, the people search the ruins for the understanding they seek.
Of late, a mysterious voice has been heard echoing up from below, drawing people into the dark, never to return. What lies beyond the security of The Slab, and what strange secrets does the darkness hold?
