Spears of Valour is a mass-fantasy game for 15mm or 28mm miniatures, set in an Epic Fantasy world. Each model represents one warrior on the field, in battles of between 50-200 miniatures per side. All measurements are in inches and players only need to use the humble D6 to play.

Spears of Valour has been designed with ergonomics and accessibility in mind. The rules section of the book consist of only eleven pages. Every rule has been streamlined, without oversimplifying things. There is only one page of magick and all spells only last a single turn. There is only one page of special rules. All of the army lists are one page each. The morale system is unique and entirely straight forward. There is very little book-keeping outside of wound and activation markers.

Players can focus more on strategy and less on looking through a rulebook.

Gameplay:
Regiments activate in initiative order and may receive two orders per turn - this creates an entirely different strategic experience to the usual mass-fantasy games. Horse archers can hit and run, cavalry can swing round a flank and strike in one phase, fast regiments can block off line-of-sight. The tactical possibilities are endless.

Melee combat has an emphasis on simultaneous combat (unless you are flanked) and lasts multiple turns. Spears of Valour is a 'grind them down' game rather than a 'break them and chase them down' game. A single cavalry charge will not break a full infantry block, but combined arms tactics and 'strike-withdraw-strike' strategy might!

Spears of Valour is a two-roll combat engine. Players roll to hit, then roll to defeat enemy armour. 'Saves' are limited to exceptionally rare and potent forms of protection.

Most models have two wounds and the average game lasts eight turns.

What is in the book?
For gamers who like a world and narrative there are over thirty pages of lore, chronicling the world of Valaya from the Second Age to the Fourth. This includes the 'City of Shadows' campaign in the present era and many pages of metaphysical and philosophical indulgence.

This core book comes with seventeen army lists - including a generic 'Kingdoms' list for tutorials. The army lists cover most fantastical forces, knightly hosts, steppe nomads, barbarians, all types of elves, demons and undead, goblins, orcs and dwarfs.

Spears of Valour is not trying to re-invent the Epic Fantasy wheel, but it is trying to make a more ergonomic one.

This book, my good general, is just the beginning of that quest!
