Shoulders is a high-energy, sit-at-the-table card/board game built on quick decision-making, direct player interaction, and constant movement around the table.

Overview & Gameplay Summary

In this fast-paced directional tapping and rule-building party game, players sit in a circle attempting to count sequentially from 1 to 21 without making a mistake. Physical actions dictate the direction of play, and special numbers alter the sequence. Card deck includes Rule Cards and Strike Cards.

How to Play

Starting the Count: The first player taps a shoulder and says "1".

Tapping the left shoulder passes play to the left.

Tapping the right shoulder passes play to the right.

Continuing the Sequence: The designated player taps a shoulder, states "2", and passes the count along in that direction.

The Basic Glitches: (at #7 & #14) Players cannot tap shoulders on these numbers. Instead, players stack their arms horizontally:
At 7: The top hand points to determine who takes the next turn.
At 14: The bottom hand points to determine who takes the next turn.

Reaching 21 & Adding Rules:
When the group reaches 21, the player who 21 lands on draws a Rule Card and assigns the new rule to any number of their choice (e.g., "8 is now a Salute rule"). The count then resets to 1 with the new rule in effect and trying to get to 21 again without messing up.

Penalties & Winning

Violations: Hesitating for more than 3 seconds, breaking a physical or spoken rule, or stuttering resets the count back to 1. The offending player also must draw a (X) Penalty Card. 3 strikes and you are OUT.

Game End: Play continues until the deck is exhausted or one player is standing. The player with the fewest Penalty Cards at the end of the game wins on the other hand.

Unlike traditional turn-based strategy games, Shoulders keeps everyone involved in the action with fast-paced mechanics where players must constantly react to their opponents' physical and tactical positioning.

Designed to sit on the opposite end of the spectrum from Last Night Out Cards—moving the action from an active, on-the-go experience straight down to an explosive, interactive tabletop session.
