A 3 - 7 player simultaneous bidding and action selection game. Players play face down action and strategy cards then bid from their current hit point total to become the wolf. Hunting as a wolf often gains the player many hit points by stealing them from sheep.

However, the strategy cards are then revealed and these may alter the rules of the game for everyone this round or provide individual skills to the player affecting the result of the hunt and grazing actions. It is possible that a round will have no wolf, or that a player wishing to be the wolf bids too low and if they chose to hunt but instead are sheep they will lose hit points while sheep players graze to gain hit points. In multi-wolf rounds, if all wolves hunt they also lose hit points so they have to out-guess their opponents.

Players who lose all their hit points are eliminated. The player with the highest hit point total after six rounds wins.
