Shapes of the States is a STEAM-focused tabletop educational game designed for 1-6 players or students ages 12 and up. The game teaches players about U.S. geography with a unique right-brained approach to identification. The game further tests players knowledge of state size, population, and date established.

The 30-45 minutes of gameplay revolves around players selecting and identifying state cards by their shape (silhouette/outline) printed on the back of their chosen card. They place their card in a network of state cards on the tabletop that have already been played, but only score points if their card is placed adjacent to, or on top of, another state card with which it shares an actual border in the United States.

Players score points (1-12) based on which of the three scoring tokens was placed on that card: Size (square area, not including water), Population (2024 census reports) and Date Established (year, and sometimes month and day) that statehood was granted.To encourage new or young players, the game includes an element of luck with wildcards, some worth more than the state cards (like Alaska). After all cards have been drawn, the player with the most points wins.
