Pergamon, ruled by Eumenes II, claimed terrain of the realm of Bithynia. The king of Bithynia hired Hannibal Barca, the great enemy of Rome witch is an ally of Pergamon.
Eumenes had a better and greater fleet, but when his ships were attacked with jars filled with snakes, the battle turn to the Hannibal's side. Chaos reigned on the ships of Pergamon.
In "Serpents, 186 b.C.", you could be Hannibal trying to repeat history or Eumenes II attending to change it.

This is an assymetrical game, were Pergamon try to attack before snakes affect his ships; and Bithynia has a lot less ships and a limitation in projectile attack. Their ships are also differents, Bithynia are more trained in projectile combat, while Pergamon try to charge with their rams. "Serpents, 186 b.C." use tokens as ships, an hexagonal board and and randomly selected tokens to solve the different attacks.

The game try to be simple to make and play.
