It was supposed to be a peaceful family trip to the city. The parents have a map full of historical monuments they want to see, but the kids have a completely different agenda: raiding the toy store and eating the biggest ice cream they can find. Family Trip is a highly relatable, asymmetrical board game where players split into two opposing factions—the Parents (Father, Mother, Grandmother) and the Children (Sons, Daughters)—to see who really rules the family.

At its heart, the game doubles as a lighthearted, small family RPG. Players are highly encouraged to embrace their roles and act out the situations. Whether it’s the children dramatically whining for sweets and throwing theatrical tantrums, or the parents sternly laying down the law with absolute authority, leaning into the theme brings the hilarious chaos of a real family outing right to the table.

The gameplay is driven by a unique, interruptible movement system and hand management. Instead of standard turns, a round is broken down into physical "micro-steps" along the city grid. Before and after every single step, any player can jump in and play an action card to trigger an event, stop the group, or force a detour.

Whenever the family crosses paths with a sweet shop, playground, or toy store, the children can trigger a "Battle of Wills." Both sides secretly commit modifier cards from their hands and roll dice to resolve the argument. To win the game, the Parents must successfully navigate the city and visit three specific monuments. The Children win if they manage to drag the family into two of their desired attractions, or if they relentlessly chip away at the adults until the Parents' Willpower drops to -3, breaking their spirit and forcing them to surrender.
