Rock & Game features an immersive music-management theme where players take on the role of ambitious band managers trying to pilot a group of fresh musicians to global stardom. Navigating the competitive and often cutthroat landscape of the music industry, players must handle the chaotic realities of showbiz, balancing ego, talent, and financial resources.

The gameplay revolves around strategic card drafting, hand management, and bidding. Players use their actions to recruit diverse musicians, invest in high-quality gear, book gigs at various venues, and record albums. Throughout the rounds, players can also play "hijinks" cards to disrupt rival bands or trigger event cards that shift market trends, forcing managers to adapt their strategies to keep their band relevant.

To win the game, a player must accumulate the most decibels, which serve as the game's victory points. Decibels are earned by successfully performing sold-out shows, releasing hit albums, and achieving specific publicity, performance, or production bonuses by the end of the final round. The manager who balances their budget, survives the industry's pitfalls, and generates the highest volume of fame secures the ultimate title of rock legend.
