Your goal in Questo is to score as many words as possible, but the letters are presented in random order, so good luck fitting them all together.

Each player has a 6x6 game board and a set of letters. A set of red letters are placed in the center of play available to all. One player shuffles the deck of 36 cards, then reveals the top card. If the card shows a letter, everyone takes this letter from their set and places it somewhere on their grid, either face up as the letter or face down as a block (similar to a black space in a crossword puzzle). If the card shows "FREE" — a designation on the J, Q, X, and Z — then you can instead choose a red letter from the center area to add to your grid.

After all 36 cards have been revealed, score any words that you have created when you read your grid left to right and top to bottom, with each letter in each word being worth 1 point. Letters that are not part of a word are worth 0 points, and if every combination of letters on your grid forms a word, then you have created a "perfect square" and score 12 bonus points.

The rules suggest playing multiple games until someone passes 500 points. Questo can also be played as a solo game, with a player trying for the best score possible, with 52+ being quite difficult.
