Josh, the incompetent showoff, thought it would be a good idea to celebrate their golden youth in a camping trip with his girlfriend Larissa, the helpless barbie; her cousin Robert, the nerdy conspiracist; and Shannon, the resilient bookworm. “This is the perfect place for an alien abduction,” Robert said, excited. “We might even get probed!” “Don’t be silly, the only thing we’re likely to get probed by out here is a psycho with a pitchfork,” Shannon corrected. “As long as he’s cute, he can probe me with whatever he wants,” Larissa swooned as Josh grinned with confusion. For these four hapless campers, fate has not been kind to them choosing a little party time at the isolated Camp Quietus. What should have been a weekend of fun and revelry will soon turn into a terrifying fight for their lives. Will they be able to survive the Psychopath’s murderous rampage? Or will they end up impaled on the blade of Johnny’s Meat Knife like so many before?

Psychopath is a card game for 2-5 players in which one player acts as the Psychopath, who tries to hunt down and kill the campers using a variety of Actions and Items at his disposal, while the other players act as the Campers, who try to survive the Psychopath’s attacks while attempting to be rescued using the Actions, Items, Allies and Skills available in their deck. If the Psychopath manages to kill all the Campers, he wins the game. If at least one Camper survives or manages to get rescued, however, the Campers win. Psychopath can also be played as a Campaign, with both sides scoring points (for Surviving, Rescues and Kills) over a predetermined number of games.

The game is played with 2 separate decks: the Psychopath deck and the Camper deck, and is played in a series of rounds. Each round players choose a card from their hand and keep it face down on the table. All players then reveal their cards to determine which of the game's four Locations they are at and what effect their cards will have. Those at the same Location as the Psychopath enter into a Struggle with him, with the Psychopath playing cards from his hand, such as Traps, Weapons and Actions to attempt to kill the Campers, and Campers playing Actions, Allies, Items and Skills to Escape or attempt to be Rescued, or just simply to survive the killer's onslaught. Campers not at the Psychopath's Location may still have the text of their cards take effect, and might even be able to trade cards with each other and strategize. The game continues in this fashion until either the Psychopath exhausts his deck of cards, all of the Campers are killed (all the cards in their hand are gone), or one of them becomes Rescued.

The game provides multiple options for all players as each card has two possible effects and a Location. Hand management is key for the Campers since they are killed if they run out of cards in their hand, but will need to play cards from their hand in order to survive. At the start of the game the Psychopath gets to choose certain cards from his deck that he can assure will be available to him in the game.
