Project AUDE: The UNB History Card Game

Disaster has struck the UNB Archives and Special Collections! A terrible fire has destroyed all of the incredible photographs, papers, and artifacts that document UNB’s history! But, all is not lost. One hope remains. A secret project (codenamed AUDE - short for Augmented Universal Dimension Engine) the work of a small group of eccentric professors, has unraveled the mystery of time travel! In this easy-to-learn but strategic card game, you and up to four friends compete against each other as the professors. Stepping forward with a plan to save the university’s history, you send your student research assistants leaping back in time to collect the artifacts and retake the photographs lost in the fire. Supervise the missions, guide your students through the past, help them choose the best artifacts, and get them home to the present safely. The player whose team collects the most points on these missions will be the winner of the game. Good luck! UNB is counting on you!

Project AUDE is a card game using UNB’s historical figures and buildings through archival photos, each of the cards are colored, dated, and have either 1, 2, or 3 stars on them. The goal of the game is to complete as many missions as possible to collect points. Points are collected from those stars only after a mission has been completed and set aside. A mission is complete once you have reached a minimum of 4 cards, the player can also collect up to 5 and 6 cards to get bonus points. These cards must all be different colors and in chronological order. There are 6 different colored cards, and the dates range from 1760 to 1999. With the addition of Research Assistant cards that have special abilities, the players are able to defy some of the rules of the game, making it more competitive. Project AUDE is not only creating awareness and teaching about UNB’s history, its also making that learning process social and fun.
