It is a time of growing tension under the rule of Philip II of Spain, in which the Netherlands resists ever more strongly. William of Orange takes the lead, while the rebellion breaks out in 1568 and the Duke of Alva intervenes harshly. In 1580, William is declared an outlaw and is shot dead in Delft on July 10, 1584, by Balthasar Gerards. A history that everyone knows. But can you rewrite history in Prinsenslag?

Prinsenslag is a fast-paced card game for 2 to 6 players where bluffing, assessment, and timing take center stage. Each trick begins with just one card in your hand; simple at first, yet an exciting game full of surprises and clever moves quickly unfolds. During your turn, you draw a card from the draw pile, the Inn, and choose which of your two cards to play. Each card has a unique effect that you use to try and eliminate other players while staying in the game yourself.

What makes Prinsenslag extra special are the event cards that play an important role in the story of William of Orange. These cards cause unexpected twists in the battle and temporarily change the rules of the game. Cards become stronger, effects are repeated, or situations are completely reversed.

A round ends as soon as only one player remains or when the Inn is empty. In that case, an exciting showdown follows in which the remaining players reveal their cards. The player with the highest value wins a Triumph Shield. The first player to collect two shields wins the game and rewrites history.
