In Primal Hunters, you command a tribe of 4 hunters attempting to take down a single Mega-Fauna: a mammoth, sabretooth, or other prehistoric predator. One mistake means death, and hesitation means extinction.

Each hunter has a Role that determines their abilities: Spearman deals bonus damage from Flanks and Rear, Thrower attacks from range without penalty, Trapper can snare the beast to prevent movement, and Bait can redirect its attention. Hunters also carry Gear: a Flint Dagger for extra damage near allies, a Torch to ward off attacks, a Bone Shield to absorb a failed dodge, or Healing Herbs to restore health. Position your hunters across 8 zones surrounding the beast: Close and Far positions at the North, South, East, and West. The beast's armor varies by facing - attacking from the Rear is easiest while the Front is hardest - so flanking and coordination are essential.

On each turn, hunters recover Stamina, then spend it to move, attack, dodge, or use gear. The beast reacts with one of several attacks determined by a dice roll modified by its Rage level, which increases as it takes damage. Managing Stamina is critical: exhaust a hunter and they cannot move or dodge until they recover. The beast's unique traits and attack patterns force you to adapt your strategy each hunt.

Victory comes when the beast's HP reaches 0. Defeat comes when all hunters fall. After a successful hunt, roll for loot to heal your tribe, strengthen a hunter's constitution, or carry bonuses into future hunts. Fallen hunters are replaced by Rookies with reduced capabilities. Choose from 9 different beasts that demand creative problem-solving.
