Plastic Grenades is a set of rules for playing quick firefights with plastic army men at the squad level and below, which distinguishes it from other rulesets of the type out there.

The game is not intended to be realistic at all, though it was designed to take into account and reward the good use of military concepts and tactics such as close range, combined arms, cover, flanking, higher ground, massing of fire, overwatch, suppression, et cetera.

We could fairly say that these rules intend to capture the essence of those military concepts at the firefight level, within the scope and constraints of the base game system.
