With 2 players, each player places 6 pieces on the outermost row opposite their opponent, leaving all 4 corner squares of the board free. With 3 players, a third side of the board is occupied. With 4 players, each player places only 4 pieces in the center of the edge rows.
Moving occurs in the following color order: blue, green, yellow, red. Players may only move 1 or 2 squares forward, or 1 square sideways to the right or left. Jumping over is not permitted. Moving backward is prohibited.
Capturing: If a blue piece is on a yellow square and a yellow piece is on any adjacent square, the yellow piece can capture the blue piece, that is, remove it from the board and place itself in its place. Each team can therefore only capture enemy pieces on squares of its own color.
The capturing player has the right to place a reserve piece of his own side anywhere on his base line for each captured and removed opponent.
If a piece is deprived of all movement possibilities by enemy pieces on adjacent squares, it is considered captured. It is removed from the board. No reserve piece may be placed during this enclosure.
If a piece reaches the opposite row of the board on a square of its color, a flag is placed on it, and it is thus elevated to leader. These leaders enjoy the advantage of greater freedom of movement. They may move along all rows of squares in one move, as long as these rows of squares are not obstructed by their own or other players' pieces.
The leaders may also capture, but only on squares of their color, but in the entire row of the same color, including across all empty intermediate squares. Leaders can also be captured by enemy pieces or enemy leaders, in the same way as capturing ordinary pieces.
If a side's strength drops to two pieces, it is eliminated due to its defenselessness. However, the side whose total strength first reaches eight pieces wins. If this number is not reached, the winner is the one who has the majority, i.e., the most leaders, at the moment when only leaders remain. If both players have the same number of leaders, the game is a draw.
