The last of the big variants, this one depicts warfare in the Pacific jungles. Included are eight mapsheets which could be used in conjunction with the regular mapsheets in the Panzerblitz game, two counter sheets of American and Japanese units, eight scenarios, and the usual set of extensive rules and tables.
While not quite as popular as the earlier articles, it is still very good.
The campaign in the Pacific in World War II took on a very fluid nature not previously experienced in warfare. Land forces depended on the sea forces for supplies and protection from the enemy, the sea forces depended on air units for protection, and the air units largely dependent on the ground units for secure bases. This vicious circle led to the famous leapfrogging campaigns which the allied forces used to push the Japanese back to their own islands. The object in the various campaigns was to eliminate one part of the enemies circle. By knocking out a key airbase, the allied navy could land ground units under protection of friendly cover, securing another land air base and extending the allied influence one step farther.
At the same time, Japanese bases behind the allied "lines" of air and sea power would lose air and sea support, and thus become ineffective. By using this plan of attack the Allies needed fewer ground forces than the enemy, and did not have to attack and capture every enemy stronghold.
Key struggles on the land included landings, counterattacks on beachheads, and struggles over physical possession of airfields. Those types of battles are included in this kit. Most situations come from key campaigns in the middle years of the war.

The Wargamer's Guide to PanzerBlitz contains articles that examine various aspects of Avalon Hill's classic wargame side-by-side with variants and a host of new scenarios. It appears that a few of these articles originally appear in The General. Articles Include: Pieces of Panzerblitz (a unit by unit examination of pieces: both their historical context and...
Polish Legions is a PanzerBlitz variant with 10 scenarios from the 1939 German invasion. It includes 240 mounted, pre-cut counters, a small, mounted map, and plastic overlays portraying railroad lines. A copy of PanzerBlitz is required in order to play. Six of the scenarios are based on historical actions, all of them Polish successes(!), including a...
Tactical GameX is a new interpretation of the classic Avalon Hill games PanzerBlitz and Panzer Leader. An effort has been taken to bring the play of these games into the 21st Century. Rather than moving all units at a time, players swap impulses, moving an unknown number of units at a time. There are also options to turn the game into a card-driven system...
Tactical Combat in the Middle East (TCME) is an expansion of the classic boardgame Panzer Blitz. TCME takes the Panzer Blitz system into the 1990's up to present day. This is not a complete game unto itself. You must already own Panzer Blitz, Panzer Leader, or Arab-Israeli Wars in order to play. TCME introduces all new units representing those that fought...
A set of expansion rules, units, and scenarios published in 1973 in the first issue of JagdPanther magazine. The expansion is currently available in PDF form as Amarillo Design Bureau has digitally rereleased all fifteen JagdPanther issues. Rules revisions address the rules on fire and movement, close assault, smoke rounds, and artillery attacks (without...
This game does not portray the jungle war in the boonies, but the regular war on the coastal plains. It is here that the war reached its final stages, and will eventually be won or lost ... The terrain involved is quite similar to a few patches south of Hue... This game looks a lot like PanzerBlitz, and the maps line up, and the factors inter-relate pretty...
An expansion that adds amphibious warfare to PanzerBlitz. MGB features: six scenarios covering both the Pacific and European theaters; eight maps featuring coastlines or islands; two counter sheets with new units for the German, Japanese, Italian, British, and American forces (including U.S. Marines and British Commandos); rules covering ship movement...
Inspired by Alan Arvold's website ( http://www.imaginative-strategist.layfigures.com/PDFs/Informal%20History%20of%20PB.pdf ) on PanzerBlitz and Mike Nagel’s ‘Tactical Game X’, I began work on ‘Grand Tactical Game X’ (GTGx) in January, 2024. This variant & expansion game for Jim Dunnigan’s 1970 classic wargame, PanzerBlitz (Avalon Hill). Instead of 6 minute...
