Coming next is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

This module introduces persistent effects. These effects are always true, and do not trigger when certain conditions are met as some others do. These effects are simple, but add some challenges. In A Christmas Carol, it’s important that Ebenezer’s understanding and evolution come from the culmination of the visitations by the ghosts. To represent this, we’ve added this persistent rule: Chapter cards cannot score unless a card in an early Act has already been scored. This represents the past, present, and future. It adds a layer of difficulty without adding a ton to remember. The second persistent effect is this: Whenever an Act die value increases, also reduce the value of a different Act die. Here, Ebenezer is trying to keep values low - keeping costs down, as it were - creating an ever changing environment making it hard to plan for future turns.

Also, during setup the dice are rolled and set to the lowest rolled value before placing them on the Act Cards. This ensures variety for each play of A Christmas Carol, and shows Ebenezer’s miserly affinities.

Lastly, we would be remiss to not include Tiny Tim. You’ll find a crutch symbol on some Chapter Cards which allow you to play both of your Chapter Cards to the same Act in one turn. There is hope in Tim, and he guides you in his way until his inevitable declaration, “God bless Us, Every One!”

Out of Print is a solo action selection and dice game where you are attempting to order the major moments of the chosen book where they belong in the three act structure of the story.

By playing cards from your hand that represent the most important story beats of the book to ever changing available actions, you will attempt to synchronize the Act and Chapter of the moment. You will be trapped forever and lose the game when the book closes, unless you've aligned four or more Chapters to where they belong in the book.

The base set includes 3 Act cards, 5 Action cards, and 1 Reference card. You’ll need this set to play.

The game requires the starter module and any one book module. These are all books and other written works that have entered public domain, and a module is a set of 6 double sided chapter pages, the hero, the protagonist, and the book cover (that covers the hero and traps them inside).
