My Name Was is a competitive roll-and-write game for 1‑100 players set in a zombie apocalypse. You wake up in your wrecked car. The groan of the horde grows closer. Your goal: complete missions, scavenge gear, rescue survivors, and take down the Mega Zombie threatening your last refuge.

Each round begins with a Day card that sets the tone: it tells you how zombies will behave at night, in which direction you'll pass your map, and what resources you must pay. You then roll six action dice and assign them to three zones—Experience, Interior, or Exterior—to move, search, assemble items, fight, or improve your skills.

Here’s the twist: during the Night phase, you don't draw zombies on your own sheet. Instead, you pass your map to an opponent (left or right, as the Day card indicates). That opponent draws the advancing horde on your terrain, growing zombie clusters according to the day's modifier and the dice. Meanwhile, you draw the undead on someone else’s map. The Zombie Control track lets you tweak this exchange—making your opponent’s life harder while easing your own.

After the horde spreads, you get your map back and suffer attacks from any adjacent zombies. Roll wound dice. Manage your infection. Use knives to avoid bites or medicine to stop the infection track.

The game ends after eight rounds, or sooner if a player completes nine missions or all but one survivor falls. You win by having the most completed missions—or by being the last conscious survivor with at least five missions done. Watch your back. The person who draws your zombies is sitting right next to you.

My Name Was turns the roll-and-write genre into a tense, interactive thriller where your rivals literally hold the pen over your grave.
