Mongjin (蒙塵, "the king's flight from the capital") is a two-player abstract strategy game. Each player escorts a king across a 9×9 board to the three central squares of the opponent's back rank. The king cannot capture. Guards can capture both enemy guards and the enemy king; a captured king loses immediately.

Each turn a player either places one of eight guards on an empty square orthogonally adjacent to one of their pieces, or moves one piece. Guards move one step orthogonally. The king moves one step in any direction. Guards may not occupy goal squares, except when capturing a king there. Surrounding a king on all orthogonal sides also loses. If a player has no legal action, they lose.

A print-and-play edition (board and pieces, A4) is included. A free web client is available but is not required to play.
