In Matter of Nuts, players are hungry squirrels competing to collect the most valuable food while stealing from and sabotaging their opponents.

On a turn, a player either draws from the draw pile a card or places a card face down in their stash (a pile of card faced down in front of them). Action and ability cards allow players to interfere with opponents, manipulate cards and protect or disrupt stashes.

Not every card hidden in a stash is worth points, so players must decide what to keep, what to risk and when to interfere with their opponents. At the end of the game, players reveal their stashes and score the food they have collected. The player with the most points wins.
