Marches & Batailles is an operational-level Napoleonic wargame played on historical canvas maps with wooden counters. No dice rolling is required - the game play, outcome of battles and morale effects are determined by the drawing of colored tokens. Belgium - 1815 allows you to relive this epic battle through 6 scenarios and a campaign covering them all!

The map is marked with positions that are more or less distant from one another, where a certain number of units can be deployed, depending on the nature of the terrain. Your units move from one position to another. They are aligned along the connections between positions, giving the impression of marching columns across the map. Units have a different combat value depending on whether they are in column or deployed.

Counters represent around 4,000 infantrymen or 1,600 cavalrymen, and their 3cm front is to the scale of the map. The combat value of a unit varies from 1 to 9, and represents both the morale of the units (militia, line, guard) and the training of the soldiers (conscripts, regulars, veterans).
This value is used to resolve combat situations and morale tests.

The sequence of play makes scrupulous execution of your intentions uncertain. It alternates between marching movements and activations combining offensive, moves and attacks. As with the tests, the order of these actions is determined by colored tokens drawn from an activation bag.

You win by breaking the morale of the opposing army by routing its units, taking its communication points, even capturing its generals in chief.
