A Grimaffen egy nagyon könnyen tanulható társasjáték, 2 - 6 játékos részére, az átlagos játékidő rövid, csak 10 - 20 perc. A társas elsősorban gyerekeknek készült, akár már 4 éves kortól is játszható. A játékmenet erősen épít a memória, a kockadobás és a játékos kiiktatás mechanizmusokra.

In Grimaffen, players must remember the order of animal movements or sounds and imitate them in the right order to win. Choosing from thirty round tiles in five different colors, a player rolls a colored die to see which tile is added to the those already selected. The player then mimics the pictures on the tile to suggest an elephant's trunk motion or a wolf howl or a monkey's down-turned mouth, all within this zoo theme. Since the tiles use picture cues, reading is not necessary and components are not language specific.
