Leucocitos is an asymmetric strategy game for two players that recreates the battle between a bacterial infection and the human immune system within an infected tissue. One player controls the pathogen, spreading bacteria throughout the tissue, colonizing cells, and developing new pathogenic abilities. The other controls the immune system, deploying different types of white blood cells, collecting antigens, producing antibodies, and coordinating an increasingly specialized immune response.

Both sides play in fundamentally different ways, with mechanisms inspired by the biological processes they represent. The pathogen relies on replication, movement, colonization, and pathogenicity to overwhelm the tissue, while the immune system uses the distinct functions of macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, T helper lymphocytes, and antibodies to detect, contain, and eliminate the infection. Each side also pursues its own objectives throughout the game: the pathogen seeks to advance the infection, while the immune system builds up fever responses that hinder bacterial activity. The first player to obtain three Infection or Fever tokens wins the game.
