The Comuneros Rebellion: Castile against Charles V is a point-to-point strategy game with a unique card engine for two players.

One player takes on the role of the Communities that rose up against Charles V between 1520 and 1522. The tax demands, coinciding with Charles V leaving for the imperial election in Germany after the Cortes of Santiago and La Coruña in 1520, sparked a series of urban uprisings that were coordinated and institutionalized, finding an alternative candidate in Castile’s ruling queen, Charles’s mother, Queen Joanna. The other player takes on the role of the emperor’s supporters, particularly the high nobility and the peripheral Castilian territories.
