Hot or Cold is a cooperative party word game about interpreting clues and thinking in opposites. One player knows the secret word, while the other players work together to discover it using a series of “hot” or “cold” hints based on contrasting word pairs.

At the start of each round, a grid of possible words is placed on the table, with one of them secretly selected as the target word. The clue giver reveals hints over the course of the game, each presented as an opposite pair (for example: sweet vs. sour or hot vs. cold). For each pair, the clue giver indicates which side better describes the secret word.

Using these clues, the team discusses and eliminates words that no longer fit. After every round, at least one word is removed from the grid. The goal is to narrow the possibilities until only the correct word remains. However, if the group accidentally eliminates the secret word, the game is immediately lost.
