In Heróis e Monstros ("Heroes and Monsters"), players must work together to ensure the survival of the Last Stronghold and its inhabitants. At the start of the game, each hero will control a General and will have access to a limited set of resources that they must manage by purchasing new Buildings for the Stronghold, recruiting new Units to protect it, or activating powerful Effects from these purchased cards.

The types of resources and the quantity of each resource will dictate which cards are best to purchase. Generals with more Roots control more Buildings and Greenskin Units. Generals with more Soul Crystals control more Immortals; and Generals with more Sacrifices control more Draconians.

At the end of the round, players will be attacked by Invading Units of the Order of Light, which will reduce the number of cards in the Stronghold’s deck. Additionally, each game has an Adversary that will grow stronger as the Stronghold weakens, and will enact plans to try to bring defeat to the players.

The objective of each match is to keep the Fortress standing, with cards in your deck, and defeat the Adversary's plans.
