In Halos & Horns, players are competing angels sorting a line of quirky souls into Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory to earn the most points. Use clever action cards, once-per-game miracles, and a little divine mischief to move souls, foil your rivals, and prove you deserve your wings.

Positive souls belong in Heaven, negative souls belong in Hell, and Purgatory is the neutral holding place where souls wait until an angel can sort them correctly — or until another angel sends them somewhere they do not belong.

To set up the game, place the Pearly Gates at the top of the table and deal 12 Soul cards face up in a zigzag Soul Line-Up leading away from the gates. Each player receives three realm location cards — Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory — plus cards from two Action decks: the Line-Up deck, which changes the order of souls in the line, and the Realm deck, which moves claimed souls between Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. Each player also receives one Miracle card, a powerful once-per-game ability.

On your turn, you may, in any order, play up to two Action cards and claim one soul from the Soul Line-Up. Line-Up cards let you reposition souls before claiming, while Realm Movement cards let you move souls in your own player area or in an opponent’s area. This allows players to improve their own score, protect valuable souls, send opponents’ souls to the wrong realm, or strand souls in Purgatory where they will not score.

When a soul is claimed, it is usually placed in Purgatory. However, all +5 souls go directly to Heaven, all -5 souls go directly to Hell, and special souls follow the instructions printed on their cards. If a soul is moved to the wrong realm, the card is flipped upside down so its negative value is shown; if it later moves back to the correct realm, it is flipped upright again.

When the last soul in a Soul Line-Up is claimed, deal 12 more souls to create a new line-up. The game ends after the third Soul Line-Up has been claimed. Players then score only the souls in Heaven and Hell that are in their correct realm; souls in Purgatory are worth zero, and souls in the wrong realm count against you. The player with the highest score wins and earns their wings.
