The players are inhabitants of Poor City, trying to accumulate $500 by working in the city or by digging for gold.
On your turn, you'll roll the white die (if you have a horse, you'll also roll the black die and use the sum for movement). On a roll of 1 (on the white die), you can move the Indian 1-6 spaces instead - if he lands on a space with a player piece, the player discards his gold. On a roll of 6 (on the white die), you'll draw an event card from either the city or countryside stack. If you land on a space with a gold nugget token, you take it and bring it back to the bank to convert it into gold. You can ordinarily only carry one gold nugget token.
Earning money in the city is also possible.
