"Factional Warfare within and between the City States of Northern Italy circa 1220-1380. Each player takes the role of a Faction that can be found in any given city." The five player factions are: Papalists, Imperialists, Republicans, Signorialists, and Citizenry.

The game is played on a circular track made up of 26 spaces. Each space represents a city in Northern Italy and is marked with the name of the city. Victory Tokens are earned by establishing control over cities.

"The Player with the most Victory Tokens at the end of the game wins. The game ends after 30 Rounds."
