The Kodama Institute is a print-at-home 2 player roll & write game where one must gain the most stars by efficiently navigating the institute’s rooms before a player is corrupted or holds the most influence.

Summary of play

You will need to take different actions in the Kodama Institute headquarters by placing a die on action spaces (doors) that represent 6 ways the Institute is influencing the population. Selecting which die to place will determine your path as you use the dark energy emanating from the Ghost Gates to help you in your endeavors.

What are the Ghost Gate Chronicles?
A series of roll & write print&play games in which we follow the story of the mysterious Ghost Gates : hidden mystical doorways from which dreams would come from... and where our dead would traverse to the Hereafter.

While the story progresses through every new game, the mechanics change, keeping only the motif of the black and white dice as a base.

Last year, in The Divide, the first in our roll & write series surrounding the mysterious Ghost Gates, we helped Gods ferry Souls, Mana and Dreams from the Now to the Hereafter.

Unbeknownst to the Gods, a group of witches called the Skulk abused of the Gates' power in creating their Brews and caused a chain reaction that closed them forever.

Since then, the world has been dreamless and the dead have been restless, both unable to cross the boundaries between the Now and the Hereafter.

Many centuries have passed and society has evolved, a little lost, a little jagged. Without dreams, creativity is a rare commodity and the people roam the streets like worker bees, content and comfortable.

Enter the Kodama Institute: a strange collective of scientists and arcanists that have developed medication that can bring Dreams back, thanks to finding the ancient Skulk Brew recipes. Since then, innovation has boomed! But not without unforeseen circumstances: some of the new dreamers show signs of corruption and even mutation.

As a board member of the Kodama Institute, you must continue manufacturing the Dream Drug whilst handling outbreaks of mutated dreamers and dealing with angry Gods all the while keeping a vigilant eye on diplomacy with the neighboring cities.
