Welcome to the grid. Fuel and Fortune is an authentic, fast paced, family friendly motorsport strategy game for 2-8 players, where split-second decisions, careful planning and a dose of good fortune are the keys to the podium. To win, players must be the first to complete the chosen number of laps and cross the finish line - but speed in this game isn't determined by the luck of the dice. Instead, players can move 1 or 2 segments per turn, or boost further by burning fuel. Every unit of fuel spent increases movement by 2 spaces. You can fly past the pack, but once your fuel is spent, refuelling requires a slow trip down pit lane while your competitors continue to battle at full speed. Turn order always follows race order - so getting ahead on track gives you a real tactical advantage!

Players can carefully plan their movement to hit (or avoid) chance segments that are distributed around the circuit, which yield cards that can help or hurt their progress. You can burn fuel or use chance cards to safely leap ahead of your opponents, or you can risk landing on a segment occupied by another player to pass and steal their turn. Overtaking this way doesn’t use resources but requires drawing a card from the Overtake deck. This could result in a successful pass – or a painful crash!

When a driver pushes their luck too far and crashes, the entire dynamic of the race shifts as the Safety Car is deployed. The race pauses, the crashed player's car is left stationary on the track, and the rest of the field bunches up behind the safety car. The Safety Car then slowly paces the field forward for a set duration—moving exactly one segment for every player in the game—before the green flag drops, the crashed player re-joins and the chaos resumes.
