In 1861, the Southern states had seceded from the Union, attacked Federal positions and forts, and were preparing for a War of Independence. The North responded by building up its own army (prewar Union troops were approximately 20,000; the total number who fought at Bull Run alone.) The armies on both side would swell, so that at their peaks, the South would have close to 1.2 million and the North would have more than 2 million manpower in uniform. What it took to do this was incredible. Some of the factors were the draft, establishment of income taxes, and the further implementation of machines for manufacturing. The organization which took place North and South allowed the war to go as long as it did.

Now, become a "Super-general" in charge of 100,000 manpower, an area's production, moving supplies, moving manpower and material, building war materials, deciding how and when to blockade, or running blockades. Explore what it takes to defeat the Southern Rebellious Slime, or the Northern Yankee Imperialist Oppressor. Can you do it alone, or will you link your survival to that of the others on your side? Will you trade needed goods and units freely and not consider the fame others gain from your generosity, or will you decide to risk defeat so that you might do it all yourself?
