First Tracks is a fast and competitive light-strategy card game that distills the experience of resort skiing into a card game centered on timing, positioning, and tactical disruption. At its core is a shared, ordered draft queue aka the “Lift Line” that players actively manipulate to secure the most valuable Rider cards.
Played over 3 rounds (“Days”), players must balance immediate gains against long-term positioning. Each turn presents a key decision: take the best available Rider now, or reshape the Lift Line using Kicker cards to set up stronger plays, or deny opponents theirs.
With five distinct Rider classes, players must weigh raw point value against class-based synergies, timing their picks to maximize efficiency while disrupting opponents’ plans.
The Parking Lot serves as the game’s discard pile, where used cards are placed. While many cards cycle through it, certain effects may interact with or reference the Parking Lot, making it an open and relevant part of the game state.
Turn Structure:
Optionally play a Kicker card to manipulate the Lift Line or trigger effects.
Temporary Kickers resolve immediately and are then sent to the Parking Lot.
Permanent Kickers remain in play and modify scoring or game conditions.
Take the Rider card from the front of the Lift Line and add it to your Base (score pile).
Draw a Kicker card.
The Lift Line is a shared, constantly shifting resource. Kicker cards enable players to reorder Riders, disrupt opponents, accelerate or stall the round, and create high-impact swings. Because players are limited to one Rider per turn, sequencing and timing are critical.
A Day ends when the Lift Line is exhausted, a collection event is triggered, or a Kicker forces an early end, often creating pivotal tempo shifts. Turn order carries over between Days, adding another layer of strategic consideration.
Scoring and Victory:
At the end of Day 3, players total the points from all Rider cards at their Base, then apply any modifiers from Kicker card effects. The player with the highest score wins.
