Choose a spot on the lake map, pick a cast direction, then roll dice to determine your cast distance — draw a straight line from your spot to that exact point on the map. Roll dice again to check for bites; rod type gives modifiers to those casting/bite rolls, while your lure and cast location change bite probabilities and likely species. On a bite, roll to determine fish species and size, then enter the fight: depending on your drawn cast distance and the fish’s size you must roll a number of dice to reel it in without snagging or breaking the line.

Catches award XP to buy or upgrade gear (which modify future dice rolls). Use TIGHT LINES luck points to re-roll dice, retrieve lures, or prevent line breaks. Play on pre-made maps or generate lakes by rolling dice on a template — the game centers on dice resolution and the drawn cast line as the primary tactical elements.
